The Annual Conference of Judicial Officers 2025 commenced today bringing together Magistrates and District Judges from across Sri Lanka under the theme “Advancing Judicial Efficiency and Effectiveness in the Digital Era.” The opening session was graced by His Lordship the Chief Justice of Sri Lanka Preethi Padman Surasena, Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, along with Members of the Judicial Service Commission, Judges of the Court of Appeal, High Court officials, and distinguished international guests including Hon. Justice Aidan Xu of Singapore and His Lordship Dr. Dhananjaya Chandrachud, Former Chief Justice of India who participated online. The Acting High Commissioner of Canada Kiril Iordanov and Ms. Azusa Kubota, Resident Representative of UNDP, also attended.
Over the next two days the programme will focus on strengthening judicial administration through digital solutions, enhancing access to justice for vulnerable victims including survivors of sexual and gender based violence, and supporting the judiciary’s efforts to combat corruption with the assistance of UNDP, the High Commission of Canada to Sri Lanka and the Maldives and the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka.
